World Philosophy Day 2025

Today marks World Philosophy Day, established by UNESCO in 2002 to celebrate philosophy’s role in fostering critical thought, ethical reflection, and constructive dialogue – all things which public life is in need of.

Philosophy is not merely, or even mainly, an academic discipline; it is a lived project through which we examine the world, the mind, ethical assumptions, and engage meaningfully with the challenges of our days.

In honour of the day, I am pleased to share a Daily Philosophical Question calendar, beginning today, designed to encourage reflection and sustained inquiry. Each question invites thoughtful consideration and conversation of a contemporary problem, bridging the personal and the philosophical. To encourage a balanced diet, the questions cycle through Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ethics, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Science, Aesthetics.

Happy thinking and let me know your musings! https://www.instagram.com/drtimothyjones/
