Reading Common Grace 10. Conscience, Trust and Choice

In the Gospels, Jesus designates Satan as the murderer of Adam and the deceiver of humanity (John 8:44). Although he is described as liar, he clearly tells the truth about humanity knowing good and evil after eating from the tree of conscience. However, it is incorrect to say that humanity would not have come to know good and evil had they not sinned in this way. Rather, having passed the test, they could have gone on to know in a holy way if they had trusted and obeyed God. Instead, humanity arrogated to itself the right to make their own moral choices independently of their Creator. They won’t submit to God’s own evaluation unquestioningly.
